The area with continuous exposure to water or humidity requires waterproofing. Outdoor places like spa, swimming pool etc. require waterproofing, or interior areas such as shower room, toilet etc. need this procedure too.
Before applying the waterproofing membrane, primers are an essential product that needs to be placed. Still, when we are concerned about priming over that membrane, then it is not required as these membranes are non-absorbent to water.
Waterproofing bond breakers are used to help the waterproofing membrane manage the building movement. The elastic properties of the waterproofing membranes are used by the bond breakers to handle the building movement.
Liquid rubber waterproofing is excellent. It is an all-round waterproofing solution because it can stick to almost all the substrates besides the oil-based one. You can use them on brick, wood, almost all the metals, PVC, fibreglass, masonry etc. the liquid rubber is liquid polyurethane.

Efflorescence can be described as a thick white covering upon concrete caused by the calcium hydroxide salt present in cement, which comes up to the surface through grouts and walls. A primer in itself is an essential part of tiling it bears many benefits such as it ensures that the tiles get cured correctly, which will result in longer life of the tiling. Thus it helps the adhesive to work better; hence the tiles stay in their place for longer without cracking.
Cement, when mixed with water and sand, it forms a bond that sticks to the substrates and the upper area. It sticks to the tile and joins it to the substrate. When the ratio between sand, water, and cement is perfect, their bond can last for years. Any miscalculation in their quantities can result in a weaker bond which destroys the longevity of the tiling project.
The main factor that you need to take care of while using an adhesive for tiling is that the adhesive should be of good quality. The temperature should be not too extreme, and the humidity has to be in control. The surface on which the work is being done should be prepped appropriately, and while placing the tile, twisting motion should be used. Lastly, the tile has to be pressed with a rubber mallet.
If the temperature in the work area is too high, then the water-cement reaction gets accelerated. The pace gets faster, and the crystals formed in this process get smaller, which affects the properties of the adhesive, hence hampering the tiling work. The preferable temperature is considered to be below 36 degrees Celsius.
To install tiles over gyprock, you need first to sand the paint and remove the wallpaper and the adhesive below it. Then you need to prime the surface with a primer before starting the tiling process. Special care should be taken that the tiles are not very heavy and the movement is not much, or the tiling longevity may get affected.
To tile on these kinds of surfaces, you need to, first of all, make sure that there are no breaks or cracks and the surface is free of dust, moisture, grease, or fungi. Like if you do not apply appropriate amounts of adhesive, then the tile will not stick and can crack and move from its place.
In case the water is leaking in a crawl space, then the problem does not lie in the cementitious grout joints. The problem can be with the waterproofing membrane present in the shower pan. To resolve this issue, you will have to remove the pan and then get it appropriately reinstalled.

You can keep the same tiling in your bathroom even if you are changing everything else, but you need to make sure that the tiles are not cracked or broken.
